   These are some useful links that are worth sharing. Some are knowledge based. Meaning, going to the site and reading what is on them is worth the time to learn what it is all about.

Some of these might be really cool things I have found, and want to share them so that everyone can get in on whatever it is.

Also, I will NEVER post a link here to a suspicious site, or one that is linked to suspicious activity or has security concerns. Please feel safe that I value my security just as much as yours.

Use OpenDNS

   What is OpenDNS? This is from an excerpt on their site: "..... provides a free platform of reliable DNS via its distributed network with additional features that increase the speed and security of DNS (Domain Name System). DNS is a fundamental piece of the Internet architecture which maps names to IP addresses. Provided as an alternative to the DNS services offered by ISPs, OpenDNS puts control of the DNS in the users hands by providing features that include phishing protection and typo correction for websites. The OpenDNS service automatically knows that the user who typed craigslist.og really meant to go to craigslist.org and directs them to the correct site. OpenDNS is also engineered to help prevent phishing, alerting the end-user when a site is known to be malicious."

   In other words, this helps to not only protect you on the internet, but also speeds up your internet browsing. I dont have all the answers as to how, but have tested, and continue to test these claims, and so far, it really is working. How much? Almost 25% faster on my cable internet connection. For FREE, it is well worth it.

   By measuring the download and upload rate from the following locations you are able to accurately measure your current line throughput or internet connection speed.

   Just pick the city/server you want to test from, ideally the one closest to where you live, and find out how fast your internet connection is. I recommend testing a few times, and at different times of the day to get an overall average.

no-spec.com    I had no idea what this term meant, or that it might be of service to me and professional creative people everywhere. Now that I have read up on it, this site makes a lot of sense, and I do adhere to this belief. No one should work for free, and this site is a fantastic source for info on how to protect our ability to survive in a very tough creative workplace.
